It was a cool misty morning in December on the way to Trichur from Bangalore with my brother. Our route was:
- Bangalore
- Mysore
- Gundlupet
- Gudalur
- Nilambur
- Thrissur
Since night travel is prohibited through Bandipur National Park, we stayed at Gundlupet until 6 AM. When we were allowed to enter the park, it turned out to be an unforgettable experience - awesome route, superb climate, and magical wildlife sanctuary.
After clearing the checkpost, we drove through the dense forest when we suddenly spotted two elephants by the roadside. I managed to photograph one of them as it posed perfectly for the camera. Unfortunately, I couldn't capture both in my frame as the elephant turned towards us. I quickly tossed the camera to the back seat and accelerated away!
This wasn't my first encounter with wild elephants - I had seen many during my travels from Sultan Bathery to Pulpally where I grew up. The route, the drive, and the climate brought back nostalgic memories worth sharing.
